Set in the gritty early days of the Great Patriotic War, we follow old Kuzmich from the quiet village of Kurakino, who senses a long and tough battle ahead. As German forces tighten their grip on the village, Kuzmich keeps his distance, raising eyebrows among his neighbors. When things take a dark turn after villagers are executed, he reluctantly agrees to guide the Germans in hopes of saving his family and grabbing a horse. But don’t be fooled!
