Jean Valjean
After spending 19 grueling years behind bars, Jean Valjean bursts into the world filled with anger and a serious chip on his shoulder. Untrusting and hardened, he struggles to find a place in a small Provence village, facing rejection everywhere he turns. Just when it seems hopeless, he stumbles into the welcoming home of Bishop Bienvenu, who lives simply with his sister and a servant. Surprised by their kindness, Valjean starts shifting but quickly slips back into his old ways when he swipes the Bishop’s silver. Caught by the cops, he’s shocked when the Bishop forgives him and gifts him candlesticks, igniting Valjean’s journey to reclaim his humanity.
