Nozomu Itoshiki

Meet Nozomu Itoshiki, your average high school teacher with a twist. As the baby of the Itoshiki family, he struts around in traditional hakama and kimono, but when he’s back in his hometown, he opts for laid-back Western threads. Ironically, his name means “beyond hope,” which totally matches his dark, paranoid vibe. He’s infamous for shouting "I'm in despair!" and jokingly attempts suicide, but it's more about the drama than genuine intent. The girls in his life have mixed feelings—thanks to some hilarious misunderstandings. His gloomy outlook took root in high school after he joined a "Negative Club" by accident, a nod to his favorite novel, Dazai Osamu's No Longer Human.
