Namu
Namu bursts onto the scene in the 21st Tenka-ichi Budōkai, where he’s got his hands full battling Ran Fuan, a fighter who’s not afraid to flaunt her bold style. As a Buddhist monk, Namu's more focused on peace than punches, but he manages to triumph over her. His next showdown is with the legendary Son Goku, and while it’s a nail-biter, he ultimately falls short. He’s there to earn cash for water due to a severe drought back home. After his defeat, kind-hearted Muten Roshi helps him out with a water capsule, and in return, Namu plays the role of a decoy for Roshi’s secret identity. He pops up again in the 22nd tournament, but after a rough round with Tenshinhan, he’s left unconscious and feeling the heat. He faces a brutal end at the hands of Piccolo’s minion, Tambourine, only to be revived later by Shenlong. His spirit lives on, contributing to Goku's Spirit Bomb and making a cameo in GT. Rumor has it he might even be linked to Uub, but that’s still up in the air. His name, "Namu," reflects a deep-seated dedication to the Nenbutsu: "Namu Amida Butsu."
