Yaeko Nishimiya

Yaeko is a tough cookie who's been through the wringer. After catching a virus from her husband during pregnancy, her daughter Shouko was left deaf, which didn’t go over well with her in-laws—they were quick to file for divorce. Raising her two daughters alone with help from her mom, she eventually took the plunge to be their primary caregiver while juggling work. Of course, that put a strain on her bond with Yuzuru, especially since the girl loves skipping school to snap pics of dead animals. Yaeko thought making Shouko endure bullying would toughen her up, and even tried to give her a boyish haircut—but Yuzuru rebelled. Yaeko despises Shouya for the pain he caused Shouko but finds her heart softening towards him after her mother passes away.
